Aside from Horace which bass players do you admire?
Yesterday was Tina Weymouth's 71st birthday...

I rate her, McCartney, Bruce Thomas from The Attractions, and Norman from The Blockheads

These days Madam Cholet has switched to playing bass. I like the fact Chris Spedding alternates between playing guitar for Bryan Ferry's band and The Wombles.

Great spot Harry.
Eavis was happy to have them around for the litter pick.

I prefer 'favourite' to 'best', personally; someone who's great playing in one style or styles might not be if put into another context.

Aston Barrett
Robbie Shakespeare
James Jamerson
Paul Chambers
Bernard Rogers

Leroy Sibbles and Jackie Jackson - very important players in the development of Jamaican music.

Leroy Sibbles:

Jackie Jackson:

Dennis Bovell is another one who should be on any list of favourites. Sting's work with The Police, and Norman Watt-Roy.

2 Tone produced some excellent bassists - Bedders, David Steele, and David Farren (especially on Gosh, It's...).

Yep, he's definitely up there with the best. A bass player's bass player.
