Wishing the king of the tubthumpers Our very own Prince Rimshot John Bradbury a very happy birthday! !! |
Without doubt, one of only two drummers whose sheer talent has had me mesmerised at times at gigs....the other being Clem Burke of Blondie.
Brad receives many accolades but I remember bumping into Rico in Exeter the day after he had performed with Jools Holland at Powderham Castle near Exeter. I sat down and had coffee with Rico, he told me he thought Brad was the finest drummer of Ska he had ever worked with.
Roddy told me that Brads big talent was that he could play virtually any style and could switch styles effortlessly whilst playing.
But I remember some guy on YouTube leaving a comment after watching Brad drum with M.I.A ( with a distinctively Specials sounding backing featuring Horace and Nik ) ... he said something like '' Man, that drummer from the Specials is off Da chain '' ...which is basically a massive compliment slang style... Says it all really. Hope Mr Rimshot had a 'Cracking' birthday... |
