HORACE PANTER'S UPTOWN SKA COLLECTIVE



Bassist with the Specials for 35 years, Horace Panter a.k.a. Sir Horace Gentleman introduces his new project tonight, Uptown Ska Collective. An all star line up joins him onstage to perform classic Ska & Blue Beat tracks along with new material.

"i have wanted a band like this for years" says Horace, "the guys I am using are all seasoned musicians; they all know one another so the musical rapport is amazing and, like me, they live and breathe this stuff."

they are going to be playing good sized venues and festivals and maybe a record or 2 in the pipeline?- although its more of a fun thing for them all. They played as the Specialized Allstars at The Big One last year and were phenomenal

H.P's show last night went very well indeed.
Horace looked rather nervous before the band went onstage.
It was a good turn out and everyone was loving it. They played classics by Don Drummond and got everyone dancing to Bob Marley's "Simmerdown"
After the first enchore, which was a lovely ska version of "The Son Of A Preacher Man" I heard, "We love you Pant-er we do" being chanted. The last track was "Guns of Navorone" which the horn section performed superbly. Horace left the stage looking very happy. I was impressed.

Thanks for the report Harry... really wanted to make that but a close friends birthday meal to attend. Would love to see them in a similar sized venue so fingers crossed.

I was chatting with Horace in Leeds a couple of weeks ago - he didn't mention his new venture but I will keep an eye on gigs.
