Aquarian Jack DeJohnette skins are my choice now, but Evans are pretty good too. I crank my snare up like Brads & I've had too many new Remo skins fail, they come away from from the metal rim, which isn't good halfway through a gig. To go from that skanky rimshot sound to one like you're hitting a wet cardboard box is fucking annoying not to mention them skins aren't cheap. It got so I would take two snare drums to a gig just in case they failed again.
For the heavier rock sound, you can't beat Aquarian Hi Energy, doubt whether I will ever put that skin through. _________________ Kifaru; Roots, Rockers, Reggae.

It's a drum kit. It's a guitar. All musical instruments to me.
It's good to get the insight from you Stevo on the drumming side of things.
He's a mighty fine drummer you know. _________________ !!! |

Nowhere near as impressive as Brad's kit, but it's where I'm most comfortable
Interesting thing about Brad's kit is that he uses concert toms, single sided drums instead of the double skinned ones everyone else uses now, they're louder & give more projection but less boom. But I have noticed that he uses electronic drum triggers as well, so that's how he gets a big fat tom tom sound. So whilst some people were moaning that Horace was playing a Gibson Thunderbird bass instead of a Fender Jazz, it slipped past them unnoticed that Brad was playing a hybrid electronic kit . The snare drum is pure Brad tho', no mistaking that _________________ Kifaru; Roots, Rockers, Reggae.
